Kawartha Ethanol Inc. is a state-of-the-art Ethanol Production facility located in Havelock, Ontario. We currently have the opportunity for the following position:

Quality Assurance Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead our team of lab technicians to ensure efficient operation, organization and safety in our quality department. The candidate will work closely with our quality team, production team and other departments to ensure adherence to our Quality Systems to enable high quality product to be delivered to customers.

  • Manage and maintain the Quality System, including creating, updating, approving and reviewing quality procedures
  • Lead the Quality Assurance team to establish objectives, priorities and support their activities.
  • Work closely, communicate and provide guidance to the production team
  • Take a joint leadership role in the resolution of all production related quality concerns
  • Maintain certifications for Food Safety programs
  • Lead and/or support audits related to Quality and Food Safety programs
  • Work with customers and production to set final product quality specifications
  • Ensure the quality program conforms to regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and issue reports detailing results of laboratory testing
  • Provide support for optimization and debottlenecking projects
  • Identify opportunities for optimization of existing process
  • Oversee lab equipment management, including maintenance, calibration, repair and replacement as well as determining new equipment requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Preference will be given to candidates who have accomplished any of the following:

  • Completion of Post Secondary Diploma or Degree in a science or related technical field
  • 5+ years experience in a Quality Assurance Lab, preferably in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility in a leadership role.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulatory and legal requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO9001, Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Proven multitasking skills with strong prioritizing abilities
  • Ability to occasionally work outside of standard working hours, as required.
