Kawartha Ethanol Inc. is a state-of-the-art Ethanol Production facility located in Havelock, Ontario. We currently have the opportunity for the following position:

Chief Operating Engineer (3rd Class)

This management position will lead the utilities team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the various utility processes at our 24/7 manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities / Expectations

  • Provide leadership and direction to 4th Class Operating Engineers on shift
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Operating and ensure consistent operation of various equipment, including, but not limited to boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, CHPs and Water treatment plant.
  • Organize and supervise the utilities aspect of shutdowns
  • Detect and troubleshoot irregularities or malfunctions
  • Due to 24/hr. operations the position is on call for plant emergencies

Requirements

  • Proven leadership skills and experience
  • A minimum Third-Class Operating Engineer certificate that is valid in Ontario.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Computer skills, knowledge of OHSA and TSSA Codes and Standards.
  • A Portion of job will be on the floor working with or supervising operating engineers and other technicians, which will involve climbing, reaching, pulling, stooping, bending, squatting, carrying, etc.
