Ontario Energy Board: Application for Electricity Generation Licence under the Feed-in Tariff Program

On the 15th of April 2013, the Ministry of Environment issued a Renewable Energy Approval to purEnergy Inc. to engage in the Kawartha Biogas project. The REA Approval document can be viewed under the following link:

EBR Posting of Kawartha Biogas REA

Kawartha Biogas is a renewable energy project consisting of a biogas plant with a nameplate capacity of 9.8 MW. In accordance with Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 359/09, the facility is classified as a Class 3, non-farm based, anaerobic digestion facility producing biogas for the purpose of creating green energy. ·O. Reg. 359/09 states that a Renewable Energy Approval (REA) is required for a Class 3 anaerobic digestion facility.
