Kawartha Biogas is a renewable energy project consisting of a biogas plant with a nameplate capacity of 9.8 MW. In accordance with Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 359/09, the facility is classified as a Class 3, non-farm based, anaerobic digestion facility producing biogas for the purpose of creating green energy. ·O. Reg. 359/09 states that a Renewable Energy Approval (REA) is required for a Class 3 anaerobic digestion facility.
